He was born to Samuel and Brownie Stout Handschy
in a farmhouse near Wabash,IN. on February 22, 1919.
His mother died in 1929, and Samuel moved to Marion, IN
and married Helen Brumfield. In 1941, Glen enlisted in the Army Air Corps.
He married Evelyn Todd Alexander, in 1943 in Charlotte, NC.

After the war, they moved to Albuquerque, NM to be near his brother Howard.
In 1951,he was called back to active duty and he served in Korea, Japan, Idaho,
Greenland, Washington, and Tampa. Glen retired from the Air Force as a Major in
1966 in Tampa, FL. He worked for the Veteran's Administration until 1983. Todd died
in 2001.

Glen and Todd are survived by three children, Charlene Mersand (Barry),
Patricia Handschy (Jim Fluharty, deceased 2003), and Mark Handschy (Renee Williams),
three grandchildren (Frank, Alexander, and Jenny Mersand), one great-grandchild
(Anastasia Mersand), younger brother(Robert and Suann), older brother (Howard and
Elizabeth, both deceased), and brother-in-law (Kenneth and Phyllis Alexander),
and their families.

Glen's passion was airplanes. He built and flew a glider of his own
design in high school, but it would only fly downhill. The wings were too thin.
He received his pilot's license in the Air Force in 1945, served in the Civil Air Patrol,
and flew airplanes on and off until 1990. He also attended many air shows such
as the annual Lakeland Fly-in.

Glen served whole-heartedly in many organizations, including the
Masonic Temple, York Rite 32 deg, Scottish Rite 32 deg, Egypt Shrine, National
Sojourners, Legion of Honor, American Legion, Elk's Club and New Beginnings
Chirstian Church. He was President (1981-1982) and Secretary/Tresurer Emeritus
of Tampa Chapter 252, National Sojourners for his many years of service.
Glen received Lifetime Marshall Emeritus of Palma Ceia Lodge 290 of the Free
and Accepted Masons in 2009. He was a very kind man who loved pet dogs,
would help any stranger, stand up to wrongdoing, tell a bad joke, pick up a
piece of trash off the sidewalk, or take care of stray cats.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Shriners Hospitals for Children
or "Be The Solution, Inc" in Tallahassee. A memorial Service will be held at
3328 S. Dale Mabry Hwy on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 10AM. Glen will be
interred with his wife, Evelyn at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
