Carolyn Jean Burdick Nunley, 69, of Spring Hill, FL, passed into Eternal Life on January 11, 2011 at HPH Hospice, in Brooksville, FL, after a brief hospitalization. She was born December 26, 1941 in New London, CT, to Loring Burdick and Pauline Misinski. She came to Florida in 1990, from Kendall Park, NJ. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Wayne Nunley, Sr. She is survived by her brother, Loring Burdick, and his wife, Judy, of Atlanta, GA., her son Sean Nunley and his wife Lisa, of Ledyard, CT, and their children, Joseph, Peter, Thomas, and Rachel, her daughter Sarah Nunley, of Spring Hill, FL, mother of grandson T.J., and her son Robert Wayne Nunley, Jr. and his wife, Lynn, of Biloxi, MS, and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Carolyn graduated from Norwich Free Academy Class of 1959 in Norwich, CT, receiving a scholarship to attend Yale University School of Nursing, graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1962. She specialized in geriatric nursing, and was serving as Director of Nursing at Royal Oaks Nursing Home in Dade City, FL, upon her retirement in 2001. She was a past President of the St. Theresa Catholic Church chapter of the Legion of Mary, where she was also a communicant. She further donated her time in service to her community with the St. Vincent DePaul Society. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends at Marco Island, FL, and always looked forward to her visits with her children and grandchildren.
Her life will be celebrated on Sunday, January 16, 2011, from 2 pm to 4 pm, and at 6 pm to 8 pm at Brewer and Sons Funeral Home Seven Hills Chapel in Spring Hill, FL. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church on Monday, January 17 at 11 am. She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband at the Fountains Memorial Park, in Homosassa, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
